Post-disaster Psychosocial Response Project (PPRP)

PPRP was a short term project funded by the Asia Foundation from 1 July 2015 to 30 November 2015 which aimed to provide psychosocial support to the survivors of the recent earthquake in Nepal. It was implemented at Rasuwa, Ramechhap, Dolakha, Dhading, Nuwakot and Lalitpur districts of Nepal.

The project aimed to reach its goal through the implementation of project activities such as providing individual and group counseling along with conducting group intervention which consisted of community psychosocial support and community healing programs. Capacity building was also targeted through training the primary health workers such as auxiliary nurse midwives (ANMs) and health assistants (HAs) as well as female community health volunteers (FCHVs) and community psychosocial workers (CPSWs). To improve the linkage between the different sectors a coordination meeting regarding mental health issues and post disaster psychosocial responses was also be conducted with the district stakeholders. Audio-visual aid such as mobile phone applications were also created to provide information to community members on psychosocial problems.
