International Day in Support of Victims of Torture Observed at TPO Nepal

TPO Nepal observed the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture on 26 June 2026 by organizing an interaction program at its central office. The event brought together TPO Nepal staff members, including clinical staff, to mark the occasion and reaffirm the organization’s commitment to supporting survivors of torture through mental health and psychosocial services.
During the program, Dr. Kamal Gautam, Executive Director of TPO Nepal, highlighted the significance of observing the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture and emphasized the long-lasting physical, psychological, and social impacts of torture on survivors. He underscored the importance of timely and comprehensive mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) in promoting recovery, resilience, and reintegration of torture survivors. He also reiterated TPO Nepal’s continued commitment to providing survivor-centered care and advocating for the protection of the rights and dignity of torture survivors.
The interaction provided an opportunity for staff members to reflect on the importance of coordinated efforts in ensuring access to quality psychosocial support services and strengthening awareness on the needs and rights of torture survivors. Through this observance, TPO Nepal reaffirmed its commitment to promoting human rights and supporting survivors in their journey towards healing and recovery.
