Integrated Platform for Gender Based Violence Prevention and Response (Sambodhan)

Background: National Women Commission (NWC) has established a 24-hour toll free helpline to provide support to survivors of gender-based violence (GBV). If anyone faces GBV, or even witnesses such an incident, they can call the number 1145 to receive support for shelter, psychosocial support, child support and legal aid. The key focus of this project is to create a comprehensive response system to violence against women by improving access to the services and coordination mechanisms through the 24 hour helpline (service referral).

TPO Nepal is providing substantial psychosocial support under this project through individual, group and family counselling, specific psychosocial group intervention, suicide preventive intervention to the survivors of GBV referred through the Helpline at NWC and different stakeholders (government and non-government agencies/organization, individuals).

Objectives: To promote psychosocial well-being of the community people by providing psychosocial support to the individuals referred by helpline system and other organizations.

Target group: Women and girl survivors of Gender Based Violence

Implementation area: 4 districts (Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur and Nuwakot)

Time frame: November 2017 to July 2021
