Emergency response program

This was a six months emergency response project funded by IsraAID from 1 June 2015 to 31 December 2015 and was implemented in six districts namely, Makwanpur, Nuwakot, Okhaldhunga, Sindhupalchowk, Bhaktapur and Katmandu. It aimed to promote the psychosocial well-being of the survivors of the earthquake by providing psychosocial support (individual counseling, family counseling and group counseling) to those who were in need of such support. Basic level psychosocial training was also given to the teachers in the community. 70 teachers from each district were targeted to receive training. One psychosocial counselor had been mobilized to each district to offer psychosocial care.

Another key component of this project was a hotline service based in TPO office (Baluwatar). The primary focus of this hotline was to provide psychosocial counseling to people who had limited access and affordability to psychosocial and mental health services. Trained psychosocial counselors provided phone counseling from Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5.30 pm.
