GBV prevention and response project phase II (GBVPRII)

Background: Gender-based violence (GBV) is considered as one of the major challenges prevalent in the country and Nepal still has a long way to go in terms of conclusively implementing laws and frameworks that have been formulated for complete eradication. Nevertheless, many actors and agencies including the government are working towards the prevention and reduction of gender-based violence. GBV prevention and response project phase II (GBVPRII) is one of those interventions.

Funded by the Norwegian Embassy and the Swiss Agency for Development & Cooperation (SDC) and managed by United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the GBVPR II project aims to reduce all forms of gender-based violence against women and girls in Province 1 and Sudurpashchim Province through prevention and response interventions.

Target group: The consortium led by Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO), is responsible for the implementation of prevention interventions and thus the realization of outcomes. PeaceWin from Sudurpashchim and CoCoN Nepal from Province 1 are the implementing partners that will intervene with relevant activities at the field level. In addition, TPO Nepal is part of the consortium as a technical partner with expertise in psychosocial parameters in relation to GBV. Regarding targets, prevention intervention will target women, men, girls, and boys in eight districts of two provinces (3 in Province 1 and 5 in Sudurpashchim Province) encompassing 87 wards in total.

Implementation area:

Province 1: Okhaldhunga, Udayapur, Morang

Sudurpashchim Province: Achham, Bajhang, Baitadi, Bajura, Kailali

Time frame: 1 November 2021 to 31 March 2024

Supported by: United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and VSO
