Reading Material for “6 months Psychosocial Counseling Training” Psychosocial and Mental Health Support Training (C)

This “Basic psychosocial support training manual (C)” has been prepared for the ease of trainers and participants of psychosocial support trainings. This manual has been prepared by accumulating contents being practiced in the field of psychosocial support trainings and reading materials necessary to conduct those trainings.

This manual is for 6 months psychosocial counseling training and can also be used by PGD students. This is a reading and reference manual only. The content of this manual include: introduction to psychology, human development, psychosocial counseling, need of psychosocial counseling in Nepal, approach or perspectives of psychosocial counseling, trauma and its management, mental health, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, autism, intellectual disability, substance abuse, dealing with special issues (e.g. HIV/AIDS, psychosomatic complaints, reluctant client), advanced communication skills, alternative tools for psychosocial support, motivation, emotion and personality.

This manual was published in February 2017 by TPO Nepal, supported by International Medical Corps.
