An informal networking event was successfully organized in Imago by Rachael, Do Cha Marg, Baluwatar, Kathmandu, on July 31, 2023, from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. The informal networking event was an intimate, invitees-only networking opportunity and a platform to get together and know each other better in order to foster collaboration and networking. The event included the Global Mental Health class of 2022 and Global Mental Health class of 2023, organizers and facilitators (from the TU Department of Psychiatry and Mental Health, the Institute of Medicine, The George Washington University, and the Center for Global Mental Health Equity and TPO Nepal), organizing team, and Nepal Mental Health Research Network members.

The event was organized by TPO Nepal in collaboration with the George Washington University Center for Global Mental Health Equity as a part of the capacity-building initiative of the RESHAPE project. The event was organized on the evening of day 1 of the second Global Mental Health Short Course, which began on July 31. The event aimed to connect all mental health research professionals in a combined networking event.

A total of 48 participants were present during the event from diverse academic backgrounds like clinical psychology, public health, psychiatry, and psychiatric nursing working in mental and behavioral health research and those interested in mental and behavioral health research. There were no formal agendas in the networking event; all the participants were flexible in communicating and reaching out to the participants informally and having personal and professional conversations.
