Capacity building on Prevention of Sexual Exploitation/Abuse

A one-day capacity building session was organized for TPO Nepal on the topic of “Prevention of sexual exploitation/abuse in development interventions and humanitarian emergencies”. The session was organized by UNICEF on 29 January 2021, as part of its global initiative to orient all of its partners on the issue.

After receiving the one day training package on prevention of sexual abuse/exploitation (PSEA), the organizational policy on PSEA will be reviewed, assessment will be done on organizational preparedness on PSEA and the organization’s risk level will be rated. The session started with a documentary on PSEA during humanitarian emergency, which was followed by interactive discussion with TPO staff and review of organizational policy.

“Suspected behavior should be reported before something bad happens as harassment is the first step that leads to exploitation and abuse. And everything, including incidents of abuse, must be looked from a survivor’s perspective”, said Suresh Pradhan, consultant trainer from UNICEF.
