Full Name of the Project: Livelihoods Improvement and Disaster Resilience Enhancement in the Areas Affected by the Jajarkot Earthquake (LIDRE) Project
Introduction:
The 2023 Jajarkot earthquake severely disrupted family life, social networks, and livelihoods, exacerbating mental health challenges in affected communities. Vulnerable groups, particularly children, women, marginalized populations, and individuals with pre-existing mental health conditions face heightened risks and require targeted mental health and psychosocial support during recovery.
With support from UNDP Nepal, TPO Nepal has been implementing the Livelihoods Improvement and Disaster Resilience Enhancement in the Areas Affected by the Jajarkot Earthquake (LIDRE) Project. The project aims to strengthen earthquake recovery and build long-term resilience by enhancing local government capacity for service delivery, supporting reconstruction, and revitalizing livelihoods.
The project is being implemented across five local governments: Nalgad Municipality, Bheri Municipality, and Barekot Rural Municipality in Jajarkot District, and Aathbiskot Municipality and Sanibheri Rural Municipality in Rukum West District. Through this intervention, the project seeks to ensure that recovery efforts are inclusive, sustainable, and responsive to the psychosocial needs of the most affected populations
