Transcultural Psychosocial Organization (TPO) Nepal is one of Nepal’s leading psychosocial organizations established in 2005 with the aim of promoting psychosocial well-being and mental health of people in conflict affected and other vulnerable communities through the development of sustainable, culturally appropriate, and community-based psychosocial support systems.
Currently, the organization is implementing a project “Sensing Technology to Personalize Adolescent Maternal Depression Treatment in Low Resource Settings (StandStrong) – III” in collaboration with Center for Global Mental Health Equity, George Washington University (GWU) and funded by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). StandStrong III is a pilot randomized control trial study currently being implemented in Pokhara, Kaski that aims to explore the effectiveness of non-specialist delivered psychological interventions by using passive sensing technology with mothers and their families.
TPO Nepal is seeking a competent, committed and result oriented candidate for the following position.
Job title: Data and Technology Research Officer

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide support to the Research Coordinator for the day-to-day implementation of research project in terms of data and technology management.
- Manage field-based staff including research assistants and counselors ensuring smooth functioning of technology in terms of both research and counseling.
- Day to day management and liaison of data and technology with field staffs and technology partners.
- Provide regular and timely updates to the team on the technological and project-specific challenges.
- Contribute to app development process informed by participant feedback.
- Supervise research activities including recruitment of study participants, meetings with participants and family members.
- Liaise with local government, primary health facilities and community in implementation of the research.
- Documentation and reporting of the trial to project coordinator and (when required) to the Principal Investigator and Co-Investigators.
- Facilitate data management, storage, and quality checks.
- Contribute to academic paper publications and dissemination.
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in field of public health, psychology, global health, information technology, or related field.
- At least two years of field-based experience in the community setting.
- Technologically adept. Experience working with mobile health, digital technology, or electronic-health data collection or interventions is preferred.
- Strong coordination skills.
- Willingness to travel to remote areas.
- Good command on both written and spoken English and Nepali languages.
- Able to do the field visits by driving motorbike/scooter if required.
- Knowledge and previous work experience in mental health and technology is preferred.
