WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY 2019
World Mental health day was observed on October 17, 2019 with the theme ‘Working to Prevent Suicide’. The day has been marked as – A day for ’40 seconds of action’.
The program was organized by Ministry of Health and Population (MOHP), Department of Health Services (DOHS) and Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD) and was coordinated by Mental hospital, Lagankhel. Delegates from government agencies, mental health technical groups, academics and representatives from NGOs working on mental health were the part of the program.
Director General of DOHS expressed his commitment to strengthen mental health services in the future and advised to collaborate and team up to avoid duplication regarding community based mental health program.
Similarly, NCD and Mental Health section chief, Dr. Phanindra Prasad Baral shared the annual community based mental health programs at three different tires of the government.
