Conduction of Trauma/Tension Release Exercise (TRE) at Bhaktapur
TRE (Trauma/Tension Release Exercise) is an innovative series of exercises that assist the body in releasing deep muscular patterns of stress, tension and trauma. Created by Dr. David Berceli, PhD, TRE is designed to be a self-help tool that once learned, can be used as needed, throughout one’s life, thereby continuously supporting and promoting personal health and wholeness.
Facilitator Maiya Koju with support of Trishna Thapa conducted TRE at Nalinchowk, Bhaktapur on 21st April 2017 to women group. Total 15 Women were participated but due to their health problems and room space only 9 joined the session. They all were excited for the exercise and curious about TRE and were engaged in the exercises. The curiosity was seen through different questions raised by the participants regarding to TRE.
The facilitators were checking participants individually on resting position, whether they are grounded or not. The 45 minutes session ended up with the reflection questions where the participants responds that they felt happy, relaxed, sleepy, and peaceful after the exercise. Two of them shared that they felt so light in their body as if there is no pain in their body. Another two of them said that they remembers the earthquake shaking during the exercises and they were referred to the counsellors to check if they had any psychosocial difficulties or not. They were so happy by the session that they were asking for next session.
